Required text for an MBA "Human Resources" elective. This book was so good I've used it as a reference for two additional MBA classes. Straightforward and walks you through the process of understanding HR. How to write job specification for, recruit, interview, on-board, train, rate and develop human talent in a variety of business settings.
I am currently taking this course at a college in Colorado. It was in an E-text form, but I needed the hard copy because this book is and its information is so critical. I wish I had this back years ago to know the rules and regulations of HR and the impact it has on all of us. I bought the book because as I am learning, I am highlighting many areas for future reference in my career. Its not only an important learning tool, it is invaluable to have as a reference down the road. It is intensive, however it is worth the money to have this knowledge at the ready for future issues. I would recommend anyone dealing in business, government, or working with 15 more employees to buy this book
If you've ever had any management training, then this book won't be of too much help (as long as your training was adequate, of course...). However, for those looking to a career in management or in Human Resources, this book is a good basic primer on all things HR.
The cover and corners of the book are pretty beat up, but it will do the job. Doesn't look like there's any highlighting just some random scribbles. Packaging could have been better considering it is a book and the package had openings where the book could have gotten wet if it was raining or snowing.
This book is a good one for students entering into the HR field of management. I have it for my HR class, so its helpful that the book is a learning tool more than pleasure reading. It has all a student needs to know if they have no experience with HR, and all the details for the student who is slightly educated on HR. I wouldn't recommend for readers who want to get better at their job in the HR sector, that would require a more in depth, less basic book, but great for students and beginning HR goers.
My textbook for my Advanced HRM class. There is a lot of fantastic information in it and I will definitely keep the book for future reference.
College
I needed this book for a class at Gonzaga University. The class had already started, shipping was fast, convenient, and incredibly easy to track. I did not fall behind in class. Although Human Resources is not my program, I will be keeping this book because the information inside is incredibly valuable.
